A big thanks to my North Dakota photographer friend, Rick Bohn, for sending this extraordinarily beautiful photograph of the natural prairie in his pothole geographic region. This was taken on May 2nd, 2018, and thankfully this bit of habitat has survived the recent plowing-under for soybean acres which has been ravaging the Dakotas this past decade. Let's hope it stays that way.
I believe those are Pasque flowers blooming.
Rick says, "The North Dakota Prairie Before it too gets plowed up to grow Surplus Soybeans!! Taken tonight and this is what it probably looked like 5,000 years ago after the Bison passed!"
