What to Plant in Your Fall Vegetable Garden

USDA photo 1913 ~ John Lewis Childs

Don't forget to plant your fall kitchen vegetable garden around the end of July or the beginning of August. Fall, or late-season gardens can be some of the best gardens of the year.

  • leafy lettuces
  • spinach
  • beets
  • green bush beans
  • broccoli
  • brussels sprouts
  • cabbage
  • carrots
  • cauliflower
  • mizuna
  • collards
  • fennel
  • kale
  • leeks
  • mustard
  • green onions
  • peas
  • celery
  • radishes
  • rutabaga
  • Swiss chard
  • turnips
  • kohlrabi
  • endive
  • arugula
  • garlic
  • parsley
  • sugar peas
Check the maturity date of your plant and know its seed sprouting requirements. Spinach, lettuces, and green beans are three of my favorite fall crops. What are yours?

Good luck!
