Precision Farming Products and Other Featured Equipment from 2011 Ag Expos

Boys, and their Toys
Lately, there have been many Ag Expos taking place around the country. There is a proliferation of competing products on the market to aid industrial farmers in satellite GPS controlled and computerized input application to operate as efficiently as possible while requiring a minimal input of human labor. Wireless connections merge the home computer, tractor, and hand-held devices which remember everything from the locations of rocks in the field to soil types.

Below, I've picked a variety of examples of these latest products including large equipment from the shows. Apologies for not having the brand/manufacturing information from the Tulare Expo. Readers are welcome to add information in the comments, if they wish.

  1. Nice comparison of now and then equipment i.e. the Brandt 1020 XR Grain Cart and the "corn wagon" featured in your picture from the 50's - 60"s period.
I often wonder about what happens to this new equipment that boasts dependence on wireless connectivity when it looses the signal. As often as I get dropped, I can just see one of these $200,000 pieces of equipment driving over the horizon without guidance. :>)
