In the above graph, note that while global agricultural productivity and developing nation agricultural productivity has especially increased, what is also interesting is the production per capita line. World population doubled from 3 billion to over 6 billion during this time period, yet per capita food production climbed steadily upwards.
The projected world population in 2025 is 8.5 billion people and it is believed there will be over 9 billion by 2043.

This past year's FAO news on the number of global undernourished was positive, as it went down from over one billion to 900 million.
