Chart: Future U.S. Agricultural Commodity Production Decline Percentages Due to Climate Change

Average crop yields in the United States are projected to decline as a result of climate change for corn, soybeans, rice, sorghum, cotton, oats, and silage under both irrigated and dryland production as early as 2020, relative to projected yields assuming no climate change. Only wheat and hay production is projected to increase.

In a new study released by the USDA November 2015, the shifting role of irrigation was also discussed in assessing the commodity crop output changes seen in the following chart.
