A Personal Life Milestone...

Today my husband and I celebrate our 25th anniversary.

What greater gift can spouses give each other than the freedom to choose how to live? The great mythologist, Joseph Campbell, who taught at the women's college Sarah Lawrence for 38 years, once said that when he went to reunions he could easily see which of his students had married husbands who allowed them to become who they wanted to be and which ones hadn't.

As good fortune would have it, I married someone who has allowed me to become myself, likes cats, and does his share of the dirty dishes. I am lucky indeed. He is the always reliable wind beneath my wings.

  1. Congratulations to you both! It must be getting time for coffee again! The very best for at least another 25.

  2. Congrats! May you have many more happy years together.

Passed this milestone myself last year. I wish that I knew what the secret was. Mutual respect and kindness are probably a couple keys to success.
