  1. OK, I'll bite. What's an eggmobile?

Is it like the chicken-powered airplane in "Chicken Run"?

  2. DB, while I'm not familiar with "Chicken Run", is it a movie? many people who have read Omnivore's Dilemma (not you apparently - ha) know that Joel Salatin believes in moving chicken mobiles around pastures to promote soil health. They obviously have wheels underneath.

Now, your turn. Tell us about the chicken powered airplane.

  3. I am very familiar with both the movie Chicken Run (Do chickens have lips? Only in the movie Chicken Run.) and egg mobiles.

Some are also on skids. The one pictured out of wood is probably pretty heavy. Aluminum framing and plastic-canvass materials lower the weight. The temporary paddocks are surrounded by electro mesh fencing, which keeps chickens in and ground predators out.

Should have some picts on my blog about this when spring comes in earnest and it all looks pretty.

  4. Ok, now my life is complete. I've watched the trailer to "Chicken Run".

  5. In Stockholm, Sweden, there is a similar farm. Hästa farm, which is run in the same way as Polyface. Totally lovely. Anyway, they have the cutest eggmobile, smaller scale than the Polyface, build out of an old small trailer. The type you sleep two in and tow behind your car. (site is in Swedish).
